A Hands-on Research Skills Workshop: Mastering the scientific art of measurements

This workshop is designed to provide Life Science students with practical exposure to foundational laboratory techniques widely used in biotechnology, biochemistry, and research laboratories. The program combines guided demonstrations with supervised hands-on practice, enabling students to move beyond theory and gain confidence in basic experimental execution.

Workshop Objectives

• To introduce students to the structure, function, and correct handling of micropipettes.

• To train students in accurate liquid transfer and serial dilution using micropipettes.

• To demonstrate the principle of a colorimetric protein estimation method using the Bradford assay.

• To help students understand how absorbance data can be used to estimate the concentration of an unknown protein sample.
